About Us
We are Kingsley Wood Design. Golden, Colorado is our home. Custom guitars and fine wood furniture is our craft.
Kingsley Wood Design is owned and operated by Dan Kingsley, also known as the brilliant handsome one around the woodshop. Dan is one of only two employees at Kingsley Wood Design. The other one is a golden retriever named Goose, who is not a very hard worker and mostly just lies around while Dan does all the work. As much work as Dan does, Goose still gets most of the recognition and is generally the more popular one.
At Kingsley Wood Design we design and build custom guitars and fine wood furniture. There is not a more beautiful material to build with than wood and we design each piece to accentuate that natural beauty. Our goal is to create functional art.
About Dan
Dan grew up in Colorado and joined the military right out of high school. After his military career and a number of years in some not so friendly parts of the world, Dan moved to Hawaii to spend his days surfing, sailing, and drinking mai tais. While in Hawaii, Dan adopted Goose (the future foreman of Kingsley Wood Design) and met his hottie wife, Alina. After nearly a decade of island living, the family decided to move back to Colorado and it was there in the Rocky Mountains that Kingsley Wood Design would be formed.
From a toy woodworking kit and building wooden box traps for rabbits with Grandpa as a kiddo, to framing houses in high school, to strip-planking a boat with his buddy in Hawaii, Dan has always enjoyed working with wood. It is truly a labor of love. Dan once read that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. So, Dan tap dances to work in the woodshop each day.
Dan’s strengths include woodworking (you would hope so), guitar playing (not really but he tries), being brilliant and handsome, and interpretive dance.
About Goose
Goose is pretty much the coolest guy you will ever meet. Born and raised in Hawaii, Goose’s favorite activities included BBQ’s, swimming, hiking, and digging holes at the beach. But at the age of 5 Goose left the islands to become a mountain dog when the family moved back to Colorado. He still enjoys BBQ’s, swimming, and hiking, but has switched to digging holes in the snow, which he loves. Goose is the foreman of Kingsley Wood Design and works very hard at watching Dan work.
Goose’s strengths include singing, lounging, bossing everybody around, and puppy dog face.
